Pure Power Plant was bred in the Netherlands but originates from African (South African, to be exact) strains of marijuana. Power Plant can be found in just about every coffee shop in Amsterdam. It is a classic staple that, although it’s not the number one seller with the enormous recognition and popularity of some strains, it still is a given that there will be Power Plant on the menu.

Power Plant has medium to high CBD content, but it is perhaps most often enjoyed by recreational users. This is likely because it gives the user a feeling of happiness and joy, causing the user to become more social and talkative. Therefore, it works well for social gatherings, especially compared to some of the more relaxing strains.

Growing Power Plant Strain of Medical Marijuana

The Power Plant strain of marijuana is a relatively stable plant that won’t be overly difficult to grow but isn’t the easiest beginner plant to grow either. Its flowering stage generally has a slow start, but the yields are high, so it all becomes worth it in the end.

If you are growing indoors, you can expect about 18 ounces of bud per every three square feet of plant. If you are growing outdoors, you can expect approximately 15 ounces of bud on every plant. Its origins are African, so it goes without saying that a similar climate is ideal for this strain. Mediterranean climates are best.

The flowering time for indoor plants ranges from 7 to 9 weeks, while for outdoor plants you can expect to harvest sometime around the middle of October. As mentioned before, the flowering time is rather slow, but the end result is well worth the patience.

Origin of Power Plant Strain

Power Plant originates from South African parents, although it was originally bred in the Netherlands. Created and released back in 1997, Power Plant has received numerous awards for its excellence. It won first and third place in various competitions in the 2016 Lift Expo Canada Vancouver. It won a second-place prize at the 2016 Prairie Medicinal Harvest Cup Canada, and that same year it won second place in the HighLife Cup.

Power Plant is a hybrid renowned for its potent effects. There have been many variations bred throughout history since Power Plant’s original release, so at this point, many breeders are making their own versions of the strain.

Effects of Power Plant Strain

Those consuming Power Plant are likely to feel joy and happiness almost instantly. In fact, it will hit you with such force that you really shouldn’t smoke it if you are a beginner who doesn’t have any sort of tolerance built up. It has high THC, giving your mood a giant boost with its strong cerebral effects.

After the immediate uplifted feelings die down a little bit, you’ll become more talkative and social. This makes it an excellent choice for when you’re getting together with friends or going to a party. It should be noted, however, that you might get too talkative. In other words, you may end up spouting off private stories that you otherwise wouldn’t.

Generally speaking, however, Power Plant will cause you to break the ice really nicely, giving even the shyest person the ability to befriend everyone at the party. Just keep the dosage moderate, and you’ll have a fantastic time.

Power Plant can leave their users feeling happy and uplifted most of all, as well as relaxed, euphoric, energetic, and social. After it wears off completely hunger and sleepiness may set in, so plan accordingly.

Adverse Reactions

The most common negative reaction to smoking Power Plant is dry mouth, so keep a glass of water handy. Dry eyes aren’t uncommon either. Sometimes the user will experience a headache, and in rare cases, they may have paranoia or dizziness, and if too much is consumed, then hallucinations are a small possibility.

Headaches are most common with beginner users. If you keep drinking water and staying hydrated, however, you should have fewer issues with headaches and dry mouth. It’s very important to consume Power Plant in moderation, and even then only if you smoke fairly regularly.

Medical Uses for Power Plant Strain

Power Plant has relatively high levels of THC (20%), and its CBD levels are medium as well. That said, it is not going to have quite a strong enough therapeutic effect so that seizures could be avoided, for example. It does have quite a few medicinal uses that are useful and effective, however, such as treating mood disorders like depression.

Power Plant also does a good job of treating pain. This might include headaches or even migraines, as well as other mild aches and pains. The user may end up feeling hungry and sleepy after using Power Plant, so in some ways, it works well with appetite issues and insomnia.

It can be easily consumed during the day, as it is a more functional, social high. This should not be done if the user does not have a high tolerance, however, as it can be overpowering if a beginner uses too much of it all at once.

The symptoms of the following conditions are often treated effectively with Power Plant:

  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Pain
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Lack of appetite

Taste and Aroma of Power Plant Strain

Power Plant is the opposite side of the spectrum from your typical marijuana with a sweetness of aroma and taste. You will not detect any fruit or sugar in this strain, but instead, you’ll get some more woody and earthy tones in its smell. It is also not very skunky, so many people describe it simply as being neutral. Not great, not terrible, but just neutral.

The taste is a similar story. It isn’t super distinct or strongly good or bad, but it is a not-unpleasant taste that is similar to its smell (mildly woody and earthy) but with the added flavours of pepper and spice.

Perfect strain. All I have to say. Also cheers for the quick delivery, two weeks flat!

  2. WeedSmoker420

I would rate this 5 stars but I cant compare it to Sky Walker OG. That shit is the bomb. Overall though this strain was better than northern lights or white widow.
